Hoover & Associates History
We have been providing mental health services in the southwest suburbs of Chicago since 1985. Dr. Marlin Hoover started the practice in association with Dr. Carol LeFevre and Dr. Sandra Burkhardt. They met through their professional collaboration as faculty members in the Department of Psychology at St. Xavier University.
Hoover & Associates established their first office in Orland Park. The location on Ravinia Avenue included a peaceful water garden where we drew the inspiration for our logo and slogan, “Find your stepping stones.” Clinicians joined the staff, further enriching the practice. Some of the early additions to Hoover & Associates included Dr. Patricia Morris who chairs the Family Education Center within the practice, and Dr. Sandra Burkhardt who went on to found her own specialty practice. Dr. Connie Natvig, Dr. Carolyn Nowakowski and Dr. Dan Fallon were associates of the practice for many years and have gone on to make notable contributions to the psychological health of the community.
Recent Developments
Due to our growth and expansion, in 2006 we moved to our beautiful location in Tinley Park, at 16325 S. Harlem Ave, Suite 200. It is convenient, comfortable, spacious, accessible by public transportation, wheelchair accessible, with free parking.
Hoover & Associates is now licensed to provide state mandated Continuing Education (CE) workshops for psychologists, social workers, and licensed clinical professional counselors. CE programs take place on Saturdays at our offices in Tinley Park. Interested professionals can review our Schedule of Continuing Education Events, and pre-registration is suggested as enrollment for these programs is limited.
We have continued to carefully add skilled and talented clinicians to our practice, so that we are now able to provide even more specialties and services. For example, we now provide services not only in English, but also in Spanish, Polish, and Korean. We provide testing as well as therapy and consultation, and we provide expert speakers on mental health topics.
Administrative Support
We would also like to acknowledge the important contributions of our Director of Operations, Emily Hoover, and our administrative staff. We couldn’t do it without you! Your contributions to customer care, scheduling, billing, and office management ensure the most positive experience possible for our clients, and allow the clinicians to focus on their clinical work, confident that everything else is taken care of. You are integral members of our team, and you are very much appreciated!
