“When we are open to new possibilities, we find them.” – Todd B. Kashdan
Many people experience stressful situations at one time or another in their lives. Sometimes these circumstances may appear so tough that they trigger feelings of sadness, anxiety, frustration, or self-doubt. It may seem hard to figure out ways to address life’s challenges. At such times, it may be useful to talk with a clinician who will listen to concerns with respect and caring, and who can help to identify and implement strategies for managing problems.
In my role as a therapist, I work collaboratively with my clients by focusing on what they want to accomplish. My preferred treatment method is cognitive-behavioral therapy, which is an evidence-based approach that can be applied to a variety of problems and disorders. A large body of research indicates that changing one’s thoughts and actions can improve mood and daily functioning. I also incorporate positive psychology, which emphasizes strengths and the desire for personal growth. My goal is to help clients find new possibilities for reducing stress, handling difficulties, and engaging in activities that promote a sense of meaning and fulfillment in life.
