Difficult Life Transitions
Life can be a struggle, and it can be difficult to navigate through the problems that we face. I do not believe that we are meant to make this journey alone. Whether it is a divorce, the death of a loved one, an unexpected life-changing event (i.e. illness or disability), possibly a new marriage, or a young adult facing an intimidating college experience – the right support can help us to overcome the obstacles we encounter. Often family and friends are supportive during these times, but sometimes professional assistance is also needed.
Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM)
I am experienced in helping to manage traumatic situations with organizations or individuals. Early intervention following a trauma is vital to restoring normalcy, and I have advanced training and experience in this area. I know the steps involved, and am adept at servicing these steps that lead to healthy recoveries. If immediate intervention is not possible, and post traumatic symptoms result, I can provide this specialized type of counseling as well.
Sports Psychology
I was a college athlete, a coach, and a parent of college athletes. I understand athletes and their goals. I enjoy working with them, and helping them achieve their highest degree of productivity through sports psychology. I have experience speaking to groups of parents and coaches to help improve their son/daughter or players.
My Philosophy
My efforts are specific to helping my clients reach their goals. Whatever their particular life situation, whatever pain they may be experiencing, I have found that there are answers. I collaborate with my clients in creating and defining attainable goals that will positively impact their lives, and helping to develop plans needed to reach them. I restore hope for my clients. My sessions are designed to be comfortable, safe, and non-threatening, yet challenging, practical and productive. I work from a very positive perspective, and lift my clients to a healthier and happier way of living. Attitude and confidence are two keys that I use to help people improve, or to heal. I look forward to each new client, and to each new opportunity that I may have with them.
Interests
I have a lot of different interests. I enjoy walleye fishing, downhill skiing, golfing, singing, and playing the guitar. I find that my activities are not only fun, but have a relaxing and calming influence on my life.
